Course Description:
The aim of this course is to provide hands-on experience and training in some of the methodologies, experimental designs, and analytical methods that are common in research in cognitive psychology. Most of the course will be devoted to running in-class experiments, analyzing the data, and interpreting the results.

http://ruccs.rutgers.edu/~jacob/Psych306/lab.htm
The Sakai website will have updated lecture notes each week. The lab manual on Professor Jacob Feldman’s web site contains most of the material you will need for the labs.
Assignments:
For each lab topic (except final), you will be asked to write one of the research report sections in APA format. For the final assignment, you will be asked to write a complete research report that includes: abstract, introduction, methods & results, discussion.
Submitting:
Assignments should be submitted through the Sakai website by 10 AM on the due day. I will also accept printed copies turned in at the beginning of class.
Grading:
Your final grade will be based on three things:
• Participation: 20%
• Writing assignments / partial lab reports: 50%
• Final lab report: 30%
Late policy:
Late assignments will be penalized 10% off original grade per day late, no exceptions.
Attendance Policy:
Always come to class, and come on time. If you miss a class, you must bring an official notice from the Dean. Absence that is not excused will result in a grade of 0 for participation of that experiment.
Academic Integrity:
All work that you turn in must be your own work. Do not collaborate without prior approval from me. Any outside sources (including help from other people) must be referenced in all written work. Turning in someone else’s work as your own is completely unacceptable, you will fail the course. More severe consequences (e.g., expulsion) are also possible. Contact me if you have any questions about what constitutes plagiarism. Rutgers’ rules of academic integrity: http://cat.rutgers.edu/integrity/policy.html .
