Optional Study Guide for Myers Psychology 8th Ed. (R.O. Straub)
Goals for Intro to Psychology:
1. To understand that psychology is not just therapy and counseling. Rather, psychology is a broad field of study that includes biology, behavior, learning, perception, cognition, etc.
2. Psychology is a SCIENCE. It is not just common sense and folk wisdom.
3. To gain a basic understanding of the material that will allow you to succeed in advanced psychology courses. Also, you should be armed with the fundamentals to be able to succeed in related fields and graduate in 4 years.
4. To have a better understanding of ourselves and the world around us.
Attendance Policy: Attendance will be taken each class period. It is critically important that you attend each class period. We will cover a lot of material every period! If you miss 2 classes your grade will be reduced by 1 letter. If you miss more than 3 classes, you will automatically receive an F. There will be few exceptions!
Academic Integrity: Cheating will not be tolerated and will result in a zero for the assignment or possible failure for the course and/or notification of the dean. This includes plagiarism of any kind. There will be no talking during exams. Those caught talking will be considered cheating.
